Hayley Morgan is a writer, speaker, and entrepreneur who inspires women to create lives of more passion and less fuss. She and her husband started Nellie Taft an super cool boutique where everything is made in the USA. She is also cofounder of the Influence Conference and Network. Hayley lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, with her husband and 4 boys.
It was a thrill for me to talk with Hayley. First, I gushed all over and told her how much Wild and Free changed my life. And she said writing it changed her life too!

The point of the book Wild and Free is all about identity. Feeling too much or feeling never enough seems to be the main point of contention when it comes our identities.
Feeling too much or never enough is two sides of the same coin and it’s about identity and obedience.
Wild is walking how God made you.
Believing Him and walking with Him in HOW he made you.
Free is resting in the work that Jesus did.
No more to trying to measure up.
No more trying to be what the world thinks, christian or secular. Jesus conquered the brokenness!
I shared how my experience in a small private school years were a large impact in my identity and Wild and Free opened my eyes to the long-standing ancient truths that God has for our lives RIGHT NOW.
As a true creative, Hayley has a talent for painting, definitely a love affair. It’s a therapeutic activity where she finds enjoyment. I loved hearing how the paintings she showcases get created… along with the words she puts out on Instagram.

When talking about the struggle of Instagram, Hayley shares her journey in authenticity. The Instagram effect is real, guys.

Hayley has an allergy to inauthenticity. It shows in everything she does, pursues, and puts out. She loves connecting with people, loving on them like Jesus, and connecting with them in all of her endeavors.

Hayley was starting to hear from people that they felt like they needed to measure up to what they were seeing online. So, in her conviction, she chooses to be intentional about sharing things that benefit others instead of giving women a chance to feel “less than” or envious of the imagined life of social media.

I love that we talked so much about creativity in this episode because new book that Hayley and Jess have coming out is SO creative! It’s a flip book! And it’s set up to address Feeling Too Much on one side and Never Enough on the other side. What developed from that, is a beautiful gift book called Always Enough, Never Too Much. Not only is the book gorgeous, it’s filled with so much life giving, joyful, encouragement about our identity. Plus the really neat thing is, each devotional is attached to a REASON why we may feel too much or never enough. It really is super cool, guys!

When diving into the book and it’s contents, we talk about friendship and how we may feel both the struggles of being too much or not enough.
Being overbearing, wanting a deep friendship may feel like we are in the space of “too much”.
Deep friendships look and behave differently depending on the person and desiring a deep friendship isn’t a bad thing, it’s how God made you. But pacing that depth may be the key to finding the mutual intimacy you’re looking for in a pal.

Not enough, can literally look like we don’t have any friends. No Soul Sisters, no pals, not a playdate buddy, not a friend to have coffee with.
In Hayley’s experience, she chronicles a very lonely time in her life where she didn’t have a friend. This is something that I think we have all felt at one time. Hayley talks about taking that “winter season” and finding joy in it. She also mentions some ways to reach out and connect with people when we are feeling lonely and that mutual neediness and quantity time can be something that really cultivates a friendship. I loved how her practical tips were for people in every season of life, a tip for those desiring a casual friend, and for the gal who needs to dive deep with another soul sister.
